Organ Pipes

oil and mixed media on canvas

Throughout Amy Wright’s paintings emerge compositions that typically emphasise Wright’s interpretation of both the natural and synthetic landscape. This painting is highly characteristic of Wright’s personal style of abstract painting, with her earlier technical, design and textiles backgrounds seen as keen influences in her compositions. In Organ Pipes, Wright conveys both the natural contoured landscapes and discarded synthetic waste through intersecting and overlapping layers of form, colour and texture to create a fluid and rhythmic mosaic of abstract patterns.
