Ashley Frost is concerned with capturing various locations at different times of the day around Sydney using impasto to render the wondrous sense of light, colour and depth. Frost’s en plein air paintings often depict the convergence of the urban world with the ephemeral observations of the transitions of light. Frost portrays the effects light can have on the physical appearance of these structures and the intriguing balance between the reflective qualities of the buildings and the natural landscape.
